About Beth

Hello!  Thank you for visiting my page.  I have created this space to bring information to the people of Cheverly about things that are going on around this great little town of ours.

**this is not an official Town of Cheverly Website-all opinions are my own**

I was elected as Ward 6 Council Member in May 2017.  I was born in Prince George's County and returned in 2013 with my husband Dan when I was pregnant with our twins.  I earned my Master's of Social Work from The University of Michigan and began my career in the U.S. Senate, and I also lobbied, work for the National Association of State Medicaid Directors and the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing. In 2012 I decided to take a break from policy work and opened my marshmallow and s'mores company, Fluffed up Desserts,  after 4 fluffy years of selling at farmers markets, restaurants and grocery stores I sold my business.

Shortly after I sold the business I started a state wide advocacy initiative to encourage communication between our elected leaders and the public. The initiative came about when a group I was in was having trouble getting through to one of our state wide elected officials.  Having worked in Government I know how important communication is, even if we disagree.  Constituents would show up at our office without a meeting and we worked very hard to give them a meeting with policy staff.  That is one of the lessons I am bringing to my job as your town council person.  I want to be available to everyone in my ward, I may not always have the answer that you'd like but I will try to answer each and every question you throw my way!
